Daily Faith Pulse

Daily Faith Pulse is a short daily devotional for working believers: one passage of Scripture, one picture from everyday work that helps it stick, and one prayer. Many of our devotionals borrow their pictures from ordinary life: building a house, tending a garden, keeping a home and counting the cost before you start.

Two other kinds of post sit beside the daily devotional:

  • Faith Briefs take a current event and read it in the light of Scripture.
  • Stewardship posts look at money, work, debt and generosity through what the Bible teaches. They are education, not financial advice.

All Scripture on this site is quoted from the King James Version (KJV), which is in the public domain in the United States. Every quotation names its book, chapter and verse so you can read it in context in your own Bible.

Why these colors

The colors of this site come from the tabernacle and the garments of the priests. When God gave Moses the pattern for the tabernacle, He named its materials: blue, purple and scarlet, fine linen, and gold.

Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.

Exodus 26:1 (KJV)

And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen. And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.

Exodus 28:5-6 (KJV)

Scripture does not give a key for every color, but Christians have long seen these meanings in them:

  • Blue for heaven and the faithfulness of God. Israel wore a ribbon of blue “that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them” (Numbers 15:38-39, KJV).
  • Fine linen, white, for purity and righteousness.
  • Gold for the glory of God. “Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle” (Exodus 40:34, KJV).
  • Purple for royalty, and for Christ the King. Even His mockers dressed Him as a king: “they put on him a purple robe” (John 19:2, KJV).
  • Scarlet for the blood of Christ. “without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22, KJV).

The white of fine linen is explained in Scripture itself:

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Revelation 19:8 (KJV)

Here is how each color is used on the page:

  • Blue: headings, the header rule and buttons.
  • Fine linen: the page itself.
  • Gold: the cross, rules and borders, with a deeper gold for text.
  • Purple: a sparing accent.
  • Scarlet: a sparing accent, such as the Stewardship disclaimer.
